Some great pitching by both teams shut down both offenses early but the Mudcats were able to break out in the 9th to win the game. The boys got off to a great start against the DIII all region pitcher Austin Versteeg as they drove in 3 runs to jump out to the early lead. The Stars then got one back in the 3rd after Ty threw away a pickoff throw leading to an RBI single from their 8 hitter. Then in the fifth the Stars bottom of the order got it going again as they drove in two more runs to tie up the game 3-3. The game would remained tied at 3 until the 7th when both the Mudcats and Stars traded runs. The 8th was a scary one for the Mudcats as they were able to get out of a bases loaded jam to bring up 9, 1, 2 in the 9th. The first two batters went down but then a two out walk followed by another Carter Howell double and a slump busting bloop single by Fox allowed the boys to take the lead. Tyson also drove in a run in the 9th giving Fletcher a nice 3 run cushion to come in and get the save. Some notables Carter Howell now has 7 hits saying "yeah sometimes this game is too easy for me." Fletcher Andel looks like a new man out their on the mound after only allowing 1 hit in 4 innings pitched. The Mudkitties will take on the Cass County Catfish Wednesday night @ 7 in Fargo.
